Active Support | High-Intensity | Transition to SIL
Location: Initially Adelaide CBD transitioning to Adelaide Hills/Fleurieu
Employment Type: Casual, Part-Time & Full Time Opportunities Available
Roster: 24/7 Passive Sleepover and Active Support Roster
About the role
The Avoca Group is seeking experienced and dedicated Complex Disability Support Workers to join a specialist support team. This role supports an individual with significant disability-related support needs and multiple health complications, including severe epilepsy. This is not a passive support role. We are seeking energetic, engaged and highly attentive support workers who can actively participate in every aspect of the participant's day, providing ongoing supervision, encouragement, engagement and support. Initially, support shifts will commence within a medical environment, working closely with clinical teams and learning the participant's support requirements prior to the participant transitioning into a Supported Independent Living (SIL) setting.
Key responsibilities
Provide active, person-centred support at all times
Monitor and respond appropriately to health and seizure-related concerns
Implement health care plans, support plans and risk management strategies
Support community access, daily living skills and meaningful engagement
Maintain accurate progress notes and incident reporting
Work collaboratively with families, allied health professionals and clinical teams
Promote the participant's dignity, rights, safety and quality of life
Assist in the successful transition from a medical environment into Supported Independent Living
Highly Regarded
Medication Administration Competency
Epilepsy Management Training
PEG Feeding experience
Certificate III or above in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or related field
About you
Previous experience supporting people with complex disabilities (essential)
Experience supporting individuals with epilepsy or seizure management requirements
Exposure to clients with multiple health complications and high support needs
Experience following complex support plans, risk assessments and medical directives
Strong incident reporting and documentation skills
Ability to remain calm and responsive during health-related incidents
Capacity to work within a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends, nights, public holidays and passive sleepover shifts
Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
Current Manual Handling Training
Valid Driver's Licence
