Unrestricted Building Certifiers / Surveyors – Contract Opportunities

AGA is seeking to expand its network of experienced Unrestricted Building Certifiers / Building Surveyors (UBCs) to support certification activities under the CodeMark Certification Scheme.

This is an opportunity for suitably qualified professionals to work with AGA on a contractor/consultancy basis, providing specialist building regulatory expertise across a range of product certification assessments.

About the opportunity

As part of AGA’s CodeMark certification activities, UBCs provide independent technical expertise to support the assessment of building products and systems against the requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards.

We are looking to establish relationships with additional experienced UBCs who may be available for project-based work as required.

The engagement can suit professionals operating their own consultancy or experienced building surveyors/certifiers looking to undertake additional specialist contract work.

Key responsibilities

Depending on the project, you may be engaged to:

• Review technical documentation relating to building products and systems.

• Assess compliance pathways against applicable NCC requirements.

• Review relevant Australian Standards, test reports, engineering documentation and other supporting evidence.

• Provide independent building surveying/certification expertise as part of the CodeMark assessment process.

• Prepare or review technical assessment documentation and provide clear professional recommendations.

• Liaise with AGA’s certification and technical teams as required.

About you

We are interested in hearing from professionals who have:

• Current or relevant qualifications and experience as an Unrestricted Building Surveyor / Building Certifier.

• Strong working knowledge of the National Construction Code.

• Experience interpreting Australian Standards and technical compliance documentation.

• Demonstrated experience in building regulatory compliance, certification or building surveying.

• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

• The ability to provide independent, well-reasoned professional assessments.

• Appropriate professional registrations, licences and insurance relevant to the services being provided.

Experience with CodeMark, product certification, performance solutions, building product assessments or conformity assessment would be highly regarded, but is not essential.

The volume and frequency of work may vary depending on project requirements, with engagements agreed on a project-by-project basis.
