Labourer/Truck Driver/All Rounder - Operations Assistant

We are in need of a someone who has MR Truck driving experiance, but is also happy to get their hands dirty physically and manually sorting and processing scrap metals and recyclable materials, as well as assist in plant and machine operations, and forklifting.

We are seeking an Truck Driver/Operations Assistant to support the daily operations of our recycling facility. This hands-on role is essential to the smooth and safe running of our recycling plant. Reporting to the Production Manager and Operations Manager, this role suits someone who enjoys practical and physical work, has an eye for safety, and takes pride in being part of a team that delivers real environmental impact.

Key responsibilities:

• If licenced, perform deliveries and collections in one of our Medium Rigid trucks

• Observe and assist where needed in receiving and delivering materials, to assure quality and grading of materials is accurate

• Understand safe strapping and weigh distribution for truck loading

• Operate processing equipment for cable and metal sorting

• Load and unload materials using forklifts or pallet jacks

• Perform basic inspections and routine maintenance on machinery and vehicles

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the plant floor, work areas and vehicles

• Sort, separate, and process recyclable materials based on type and quality, with emphasis on quality assurance

• Follow safety protocols and always wear appropriate PPE

• Record weights, production output, and any issues accurately for reporting

• Assist with stock movements, dispatch, and goods receivable tasks when required.

• Previous experience in the scrap industry highly regarded.

• Forklift licence (required)

• Medium rigid truck licence (highly desirable)

• Michanical aptitude for machinery highly sort after

• Physically fit and able to lift/move heavy materials as needed

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as in a team

• Able to follow instructions, SOPs, and health and safety protocols

• Basic literacy and numeracy for reporting and records.

• A keen aptitude to learn.

• Full-time position starting on a 6 month probationary period. This will be preceded by a 1 week trail.
