Role DescriptionElysium Psychology is seeking an experienced and motivated Psychologist to join our team in a part-time, school-based role one day per week in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs.This position would be particularly well suited to an Educational and Developmental Psychologist or Registrar, or a General Registered Psychologist with demonstrated experience working in school settings and supporting children and adolescents.
Working on-site within a school environment, the successful applicant will provide accessible and responsive psychological support to students, families and school staff. The role may include psychological assessment, individual and group interventions, consultation, case formulation, and practical recommendations to support students’ emotional wellbeing, learning, development and behavioural needs.
The Psychologist will work collaboratively with educators, wellbeing staff, families and other health professionals to provide a coordinated approach to supporting students. Responsibilities may also include consultation regarding learning, behavioural and developmental concerns, participation in case discussions, and contributing to the development of strategies and supports within the school environment.
There may also be opportunities to contribute to parent or staff information sessions, workshops and psychoeducation on relevant mental health, developmental and wellbeing topics.This is a flexible, part-time role requiring regular on-site attendance one day per week.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct psychological assessments and provide evidence-based intervention for children and adolescents.Provide individual and, where appropriate, group-based psychological support.Assess and support students experiencing emotional, behavioural, developmental, learning or social difficulties.Provide consultation and practical recommendations to parents, carers, educators and other relevant professionals.Prepare clear, timely and high-quality clinical reports, assessment reports and recommendations.Collaborate with school wellbeing staff, teachers and external health professionals.Participate in case discussions and multidisciplinary planning where required.Contribute to early intervention and preventative approaches that promote student wellbeing.Deliver or contribute to parent, staff or student psychoeducation and workshops where appropriate.Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold high standards of ethical and professional practice.Qualifications and ExperienceRelevant postgraduate qualification in Educational and Developmental Psychology, or a related area of psychology.Current AHPRA registration as a Psychologist.Educational and Developmental Psychologists and Registrars are strongly encouraged to apply.General Registered Psychologists with demonstrated experience working in school environments and supporting children and adolescents are also encouraged to apply.Experience conducting psychological assessments relating to learning, behavioural, developmental and emotional needs is highly regarded.Demonstrated skills in delivering evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents, including approaches such as CBT, behavioural interventions and parent guidance.Strong clinical judgement and the ability to tailor interventions to meet individual developmental, cultural and family needs.Excellent report writing, documentation and case management skills.Ability to communicate complex psychological information clearly and sensitively to children, parents, educators and other professionals.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Excellent organisational and time-management skills.Experience working within schools, community settings or child and adolescent clinical services will be highly regarded.A commitment to ongoing professional development, ethical practice and high-quality client care.What We OfferA meaningful opportunity to work directly within a school community.A supportive and collaborative professional environment.The opportunity to work alongside experienced psychologists and allied health professionals.Opportunities for consultation, supervision and professional development.Flexible part-time arrangements.The opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact on the wellbeing of children, young people and families.Location: Melbourne’s Northern SuburbsCommitment: 1 day per weekEmployment Type: Employee or contractor arrangements availableFor further information or to express your interest, please contact Katy Dib at katy@elysiumpsychology.com.au.
