About the role

We are seeking a Counter Hand to join the team at MEAT CONNOISSEUR in Hillarys, WA 6025. This is a casual position that plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the high standards our customers expect from our speciality meat retail business. As a Counter Hand, you will be the face of our business, engaging directly with customers, preparing quality products, and ensuring a welcoming shopping experience that keeps customers coming back.

Key responsibilities

• Serving customers at the counter with professionalism and warmth, taking orders and responding to enquiries about our products

• Preparing and packaging meat products to the highest standard, ensuring presentation and hygiene standards are maintained at all times

• Operating the till and processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently

• Maintaining a clean and organised counter workspace, including regular cleaning and stock rotation

• Restocking shelves and displays with products, ensuring items are attractively presented and clearly labelled

• Supporting the team with general retail duties as required

• Providing product knowledge and recommendations to customers to enhance their shopping experience

• Following all health and safety regulations, particularly those related to food handling and storage

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in retail or customer service, particularly in a food retail or delicatessen environment

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with a diverse range of customers

• Reliability and punctuality, with the flexibility to work casual shifts including weekends if required

• A passion for quality products and a genuine interest in meat and food retail

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights

• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation

• Basic numeracy skills and comfort with using a till or point-of-sale system

• Food handling certification or willingness to obtain it is highly desirable
