Key focus areas include NAPLAN preparation, scholarship test readiness, VCE and IB subject tutoring, as well as academic enrichment programs. ACE is committed to sharpening minds and shaping futures through high-quality, results-oriented tutoring.
Role Description The IB Tutor will provide high-quality, curriculum-aligned support to IB students in their designated subject areas, including assisting with conceptual understanding, exam preparation, and internal assessments. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons, explaining complex topics in accessible ways, and offering targeted feedback on assignments and practice exams. The tutor will monitor student progress, adjust teaching strategies to individual needs, and maintain clear communication with students and parents regarding performance and goals. This is a part-time, on-site role based at Alfa Core Education in Mount Waverley, VIC, requiring regular attendance during scheduled tutoring sessions and occasional participation in meetings or training.
Qualifications
Strong subject-matter expertise in one or more IB subjects (e.g., Mathematics, Sciences, English, Humanities, or Languages) and thorough understanding of the IB curriculum and assessment criteria.Demonstrated teaching or tutoring experience, preferably with IB or senior secondary students, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and scaffold learning effectively.Skill in lesson planning, academic coaching, and exam preparation strategies, with a focus on helping students build problem-solving, critical thinking, and study skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with diverse students, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with parents and the tutoring team.Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with reliability in maintaining schedules, documenting progress, and aligning sessions with student goals.Comfort with using educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning, track performance, and support personalised learning pathways.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a relevant discipline (or current enrolment in a related tertiary program); formal teacher training or IB teaching experience is an advantage.Commitment to a student-centered, inclusive, and non-discriminatory learning environment, with a genuine interest in supporting students’ academic growth and future aspirations.
