The Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) is seeking a Senior Work Health Safety Consultant to join our People and Culture team. In this influential role, you'll work closely with executives, managers and employees across a diverse range of operational environments to strengthen our safety culture, support legislative compliance and drive continuous improvement in workplace health and safety.

About the role

As a Senior Work Health Safety Consultant, you will be a trusted advisor providing high-level WHS guidance and support across designated divisions, sites and projects. You will partner with leaders to identify and manage risks, build capability and implement practical solutions that improve safety outcomes for our people.

Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will lead strategic WHS initiatives, contribute to the ongoing enhancement of PIRSA's WHS Management System and play a key role in embedding a positive safety culture.

What you'll be doing

Provide expert WHS advice and practical solutions to executives, managers and employees across a diverse range of business areas.

• Partner with divisions to support compliance with WHS legislation, policies, procedures and organisational standards.

• Build leadership capability by coaching and supporting managers in managing WHS responsibilities and workplace risks.

• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of WHS systems, procedures, programs and tools.

• Manage and deliver WHS projects that strengthen organisational capability and improve safety performance.

• Provide reports and analyse WHS trends and data to identify opportunities for improvement and inform decision making.

• Foster strong stakeholder relationships through a proactive, collaborative and customer-focused approach.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical WHS expertise with outstanding communication and relationship-building skills. You will be confident engaging with senior leaders, influencing positive change and delivering practical, risk-based advice across a complex organisation.

We are looking for a collaborative and self-directed professional who brings:

• Strong technical experience in WHS, including chemicals, plant and equipment, chemicals, hazardous manual tasks and psychosocial hazards.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver timely WHS services.

• Experience leading WHS projects and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and consultation skills in operational meetings and WHS committees.

• The ability to build trusted relationships with executives, managers and employees.

• A proactive, solution-focused approach with a commitment to outstanding customer service.

Special Conditions

• Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.

• Full-time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week

Requirements

• Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive regionally in South Australia.

• Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.

• Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).

• You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.

• The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

Remuneration
ASO6 - $105,747 min - $111,854 max per annum, plus superannuation
