The Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) and Victorian Clinical Genetics Services (VCGS) are seeking an experienced and detail oriented Accounts Assistant to support the smooth and accurate delivery of our finance operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys a mix of transactional accounting, reconciliations, reporting support and systems administration. Working as part of a collaborative Finance team, you'll play a key role in ensuring financial information is accurate, compliant and delivered on time to support our researchers, clinicians and operational teams.
About The Role
Reporting to the Finance team, you will be responsible for a broad range of financial administration and accounting activities across MCRI and VCGS. You'll contribute to month end and year end processes, manage reconciliations, support audits and assist with finance system administration while helping drive continuous improvement initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has exceptional attention to detail and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
What You’ll Do
Manage daily banking activities, including bank reconciliations, investigation of outstanding items and maintenance of accurate financial records.Support month-end and year-end financial processes through the preparation of reconciliations, journals, accruals, intercompany transactions and fixed asset accounting.Provide finance systems administration support, including cost centre creation, user setup and assistance with finance reporting tools.Assist with internal and external audit requirements by preparing accurate workpapers, supporting documentation and responding to audit queries.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance finance processes, controls, reporting accuracy and team efficiency.Build positive relationships with internal stakeholders by providing timely, professional and customer-focused finance support.
About You
You are a highly organised and proactive finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage recurring deadlines and competing priorities.
What You’ll Bring
Experience in accounts administration, transactional accounting or a similar finance roleStrong experience preparing bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and journalsExceptional attention to detail and accuracyAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with large datasetsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience with SAP Business One, Power BI or similar finance systems is desiredExposure to the health, research, government or not-for-profit sectors is desired
