Job location

 Forensicare provides specialist forensic mental health services across 13 of Victoria’s 15 prisons. This position based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Melbourne's west, provides 75 prison-based custodial mental health beds as well as assessments and outpatient services provided in maximum-security forensic mental health complex within the medium-security prison.

About the Role:

Join Forensicare’s Outpatients Program at Ravenhall Correctional Centre as a Psychologist Grade 2, where you’ll play a vital role in delivering specialist forensic mental health care.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessment, intervention, and clinical management to men in custody, supporting their mental health recovery and reducing reoffending risk. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a challenging yet highly rewarding forensic setting.

Duties:

In this role, you will:

• Deliver comprehensive psychological assessments (including psychometric and diagnostic assessments)
• Provide individual and group therapeutic interventions to address the mental health needs of forensic clients
• Contribute to risk assessment and risk management alongside the clinical team
• Prepare clinical and court reports where required
• Support case formulation, treatment planning and program development
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure integrated care
• Maintain strong therapeutic relationships with consumers and stakeholders

About You:

• Experience in mental health and/or forensic settings (highly regarded)
• Strong clinical skills in mental health assessment, intervention and treatment
• Knowledge of forensic assessment, risk assessment, and offender rehabilitation
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication skills, including report writing and court liaison
• Commitment to consumer recovery and continuous professional development

What you need: 

• Hold general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).
