About the role
We are seeking an experienced and dependable accounts payable officer to join our small finance team at our Brendale premises. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions. The role operates in a purchase order-based manufacturing environment and requires someone who can investigate discrepancies, follow matters through to resolution and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
Key responsibilities
Managing the accounts payable process from invoice receipt through to payment
Processing and coding supplier invoices accurately and within required timeframes
Matching of invoices against purchase orders and goods receipts
Investigating price, quantity, purchase order and receiving discrepancies
Liaising with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoice and payment queries
Reconciling supplier statements and following up outstanding items
Preparing weekly payment batches and supporting documentation for review and approval
Processing domestic and foreign currency supplier payments
Monitoring outstanding invoices, due dates and payment requirements
Processing employee credit card transactions and following up supporting receipts
Preparing and posting journals and other accounts payable adjustments
Maintaining complete and accurate records in accordance with internal controls
Assisting with month-end processes and accounts payable reporting
Providing general finance and administrative support as required
About you
To succeed in this position, you will ideally have:
At least two to three years' experience in an Accounts Payable Officer or similar role
Experience working in a purchase order-based environment; manufacturing, distribution or another complex operational business would be highly regarded
Strong experience in invoice processing, purchase order matching, supplier reconciliations and payment runs
The ability to investigate discrepancies and take ownership of issues through to resolution
Experience using an ERP or integrated accounting system. SAP experience is highly regarded but not essential
Sound Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
A methodical, organised approach and the ability to manage competing deadlines
Confidence working independently while contributing to a small, collaborative finance team
Clear and professional communication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Reliability, sound judgement and respect for confidential information
Full Australian working rights
This role will suit a self-starter who takes pride in producing accurate work, follows established processes and communicates promptly when information or assistance is required. You will be comfortable working with detailed transactions while payment deadlines are met.
