About the role

Hair Obsession is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic 1st or 2nd Hairdressing Apprentice to join our thriving salon team in Carlton, NSW. This is an exciting full-time apprenticeship opportunity for someone looking to launch a rewarding career in the hair and beauty industry. As a Hairdressing Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced stylists and mentors, developing practical skills whilst earning and learning in a supportive salon environment. This role is essential to our team as it allows us to nurture the next generation of talented hairdressers whilst ensuring we maintain our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting senior hairdressers with client consultations and understanding client requirements

• Learning and practising fundamental hairdressing techniques including cutting, colouring, styling and chemical treatments under supervision

• Shampooing, conditioning and preparing clients' hair for various treatments

• Maintaining a clean and hygienic workstation and salon environment in compliance with health and safety standards

• Greeting clients warmly, managing appointments and providing excellent customer service

• Sterilising and maintaining hairdressing tools and equipment

• Developing knowledge of hair products, treatments and aftercare advice

• Attending structured training sessions and completing your hairdressing apprenticeship qualification

• Supporting the team with general salon duties including reception, stock management and promotion of services

What we're looking for

• A genuine passion for hairdressing and the beauty industry

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanour

• Willingness to learn and receptiveness to constructive feedback

• Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude towards work

• Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods

• Attention to detail and a commitment to health and safety

• Eligibility to undertake an apprenticeship in NSW (Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible visa holder)

• Preferred: Any previous experience in customer service or salon environments
