About the role
Drive Procurement and Growth OpportunitiesGodden Food Group (GFG) is one of Australia's leading independent foodservice distributors, supplying pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafés, hotels and institutional customers with an extensive range of foodservice products. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement function and deliver significant value across our supplier network & distribution sites.
We are looking for a dynamic procurement professional who understands the foodservice industry, can negotiate agreements, and has a proven ability to identify and unlock revenue opportunities, marketing support, supply chain efficiencies, volume incentives and strategic growth partnerships.
About the RoleReporting directly to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring product availability, driving gross profit improvement, maximising supplier income opportunities, and developing long-term strategic partnerships with key manufacturers and vendors.This role requires a hands-on leader who can operate both strategically and operationally within a fast-paced food distribution environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Procurement & Commercial LeadershipContinue to improve a best-practice procurement strategy across all foodservice categories.Lead major supplier negotiationsEstablish long-term supplier partnerships that create mutual growth opportunities.
Supplier Growth & Revenue GenerationMaximise supplier contribution through structured revenue programs.Identify, negotiate and grow supplier income streams including:
Inventory & Demand PlanningOversee purchasing forecasts and stock planning to optimise inventory holding.Monitor stock turns, fill rates, service levels and working capital performance.Minimise excess, obsolete and slow-moving inventory.Ensure product availability while maintaining disciplined stock investment levels.
Supplier Relationship ManagementDevelop executive-level relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers.Conduct regular supplier performance reviews.
LeadershipLead and mentor the procurement team in both QLD & NSW.Maintain procurement KPIs and accountability frameworks.Drive a culture of continuous improvement, commercial thinking and operational excellence.Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Logistics and Finance teams.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will possess:
Essential ExperienceMinimum 5+ years senior purchasing, procurement or category management experience.Significant experience within foodservice distribution, FMCG, wholesale food, manufacturing or fresh food procurement.Demonstrated success negotiating large-scale supplier agreements and commercial contracts.Proven ability to generate additional supplier revenue and improve trading terms.Strong understanding of supplier rebate structures and category management principles.Experience managing supplier performance and strategic partnerships.
Skills & AttributesElite negotiation and influencing skills.Strong commercial acumen and financial understanding.Ability to analyse supplier profitability and identify growth opportunities.Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.Strong analytical and reporting skills.
