About Us

STH Piling is a specialist piling and retention subcontractor operating across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. We run a Fleet of piling rigs and excavators (IMT, Mait, and more) across 10–12 concurrent jobs at any given time, delivering CFA piling, bored piers, ground anchors, shotcrete and capping beam works, and bulk excavation for builders across the region.

Due to adding more machines to our fleet
We're looking for another experienced Plant Mechanic to join our team at our Rosebud based workshop, keeping our fleet running reliably across all our sites.

About the Role

Based at our Rosebud workshop, you'll be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of our piling rigs, excavators, and support plant — keeping our machines job-ready and minimising downtime across our active sites.

Day to day you'll:

- Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on piling rigs, excavators, and attachments

- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults

- Undertake breakdown repairs, including occasional site call-outs

- Source and order parts as needed

- Maintain accurate service and repair records

- Assist with pre-start checks and machine handovers

- Mentor and work alongside other workshop team,

- Follow all workshop and site safety procedures

What We're Looking For

- Trade qualification as a Plant Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Heavy Vehicle/Earthmoving Mechanic (or equivalent experience)

- Solid hydraulics, mechanical, and diagnostic fault-finding skills

- Experience servicing excavators, piling rigs, or other heavy earthmoving plant highly regarded

- Current driver's licence

- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload

- Good communication skills — you'll liaise with site teams and management on machine status

- White Card (or willingness to obtain)
