About the role
Established in 1959, Stoddart has been synonymous with stainless steel, steel and aluminium metal fabrication for over 60 years. We operate out of a state-of the-art facility in the southern suburbs of Brisbane, with an additional network of sales offices and warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Throughout its evolution, Stoddart has proudly continued to remain a 100% Australian-owned family business.
As the Warehouse and Despatch Supervisor you will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of all goods to and from the Victorian site to customers and other Stoddart sites, as well as the appropriate packaging and storage of stock. The role requires building strong relationships with our external partners in the supply chain and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders with competing demands. Working in a small team, this role requires the willingness to undertake basic warehousing tasks on a daily basis.
More specifically your duties will include the following:
Receive and action general enquiries, requests for quotes, time estimates and preferred freight company by phone and email
Assist with an array of problem-solving issues of missing, late and damaged freight with internal/external stakeholders
Check and sign off freight invoices against spreadsheets and rate cards
Assess items for delivery including size, weight, special delivery requirements and a/c clearance (cash sales or past grace)
Consolidate orders according to delivery location
Generate consignment notes, address labels, shipping dockets and make shipment entries
Undertake basic staff administration (e.g. approve leave)
Manage the allocation of tasks
Manage staff performance with a view to continuous improvement
In determining suitability for the role, the following criteria are considered essential:
Intermediate level of computer skills in computer software incl. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Ability to demonstrate enhanced verbal and written communication skills
Basic knowledge of relevant workplace legislation
Skilled at undertaking investigations
Skilled at negotiation
Skilled at contingency planning in relation to deliveries
Skilled at negotiating difficult conversations
Skilled in the accurate transfer of critical data
HR LF (Forklift) Licence
The following criteria are considered desirable:
Formal training/certification in warehousing and/or logistics
