First Nations Investigations Producer - Living Black, NITV

This role is classified as Level 5 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement with a base salary range of $109,890 - $129,820 + super. The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Role

Join Living Black, Australia's longest-running Indigenous current affairs program, as an Investigations Producer. You'll play a key role in uncovering important stories, shaping compelling conversations and producing distinctive content across Living Black, Karla Grant Presents and special projects that inform, challenge and inspire audiences.

You'll be part of a collaborative and creative team that values strong journalism, innovative storytelling and a commitment to elevating First Nations voices and perspectives.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Produce, write and deliver investigations, conversations and special programs from concept through to broadcast.
• Research, develop and pitch compelling story ideas that help shape the editorial direction of Australia's longest-running Indigenous current affairs program.
• Engage with guests and stakeholders, manage pre-interviews, and prepare briefs, program structures and shooting scripts.
• Overseeing the production of investigations from story conception, shooting, scripting, editing through to on air.
• Travel across Australia to capture stories and coordinate production logistics.
• Coordinating with interviewees and stakeholders for travel and recording arrangements.
• Work with SBS and NITV teams to create impactful content across broadcast, digital and news platforms.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional who is passionate about storytelling, with a deep understanding of Indigenous culture and a commitment to making a difference through impactful journalism.

• A minimum of five years’ experience as a television journalist, with expertise in long-form storytelling and production techniques in current affairs.
• A deep understanding of digital audiences and their role in NITV's broader strategy.
• Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to thrive under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
• A talent for generating fresh, imaginative ideas and a natural curiosity about diverse subjects.
• Proven knowledge and understanding of First Nations issues, supported by a wide range of contacts.
