Your role

Homes NSW is seeking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are passionate about supporting community and improving housing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families.

The Aboriginal Client Service Officer (CSO) provides specialist advice and support to Aboriginal clients with complex support and housing needs via the Aboriginal Enquiry Line (AEL). As well as delivering housing services to vulnerable people in NSW to ensure that housing products and support services are effectively targeted to meet their housing needs.

We are looking for candidates who can build trust, communicate respectfully and work in partnership with community to help achieve the best outcome possible for families.

What you'll do

In this role, you will provide culturally safe and responsive support to Aboriginal clients, families and communities by building trusted relationships and delivering housing-related assistance that reflects local community needs.

Drawing on your cultural knowledge, lived experience and understanding of Aboriginal communities, you will help connect clients with appropriate housing services, advocate for positive outcomes, and contribute to improving the wellbeing of Aboriginal people across NSW.

You will work collaboratively with internal teams, community organisations and stakeholders to ensure services are delivered with respect, empathy and a commitment to self-determination, while supporting clients to navigate their housing and maintenance needs.

As part of Housing Services, you will:

• Provide advice and/or make appropriate referrals to assist Aboriginal clients with complex support and housing needs in accessing appropriate support services.
• Respond to phone enquiries from Aboriginal clients, HOMES NSW clients and members of the public and provide accurate and appropriate information about Housing NSW products and services, as well as those offered by key stakeholders, to enhance client awareness of services and products which meet their immediate and complex needs.
• Make an assessment based on the information provided to determine eligibility for HOMES NSW products and services.
• Initiate, coordinate and prioritise actions in response to calls from clients, members of the public and other relevant stakeholders.
• Undertake outbound calls to clients to facilitate the completion of specialised and ad-hoc projects including client wellbeing checks such as the Keep in Touch project.
• Maintain call records, system entries and client/service databases in line with record management guidelines to ensure that information is accurate and up to date.
• Provide administrative support including correspondence processing and reporting to facilitate the completion of the contact centre's endorsed work.
• Demonstrate a commitment to employment equity and diversity, work health and safety (WHS), risk management and ethical practices.
