About the opportunity

Lead one of Australia's most significant logistics operations at our technology-leading Distribution Centre in Truganina, Melbourne West.

This is not your average Operations Manager role.

We're looking for an ambitious, commercially minded people leader to become a critical part of the leadership team responsible for one of the largest and most sophisticated wholesale distribution centres in the Southern Hemisphere.

Based at our Truganina Distribution Centre, you'll help lead a 45,000sqm operation housing more than 30,000 pallet spaces, supporting a 24/7 distribution network and overseeing a workforce of approximately 300 team members, including permanent and casual employees. 

Reporting directly to the State Logistics Manager, you'll be the vital link between senior leadership and frontline operations, influencing performance, culture, safety, people development and operational excellence every day.

What does the role involve?

As Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of a major part of our distribution centre operation, leading people, performance and continuous improvement initiatives. We're looking for a passionate leader who believes safety is the foundation of a successful culture, creating an environment where our teams feel supported, engaged and able to thrive.

You'll be responsible for:

• Leading large operational teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

• Driving safety, engagement and operational performance

• Partnering with leaders across multiple shifts to achieve service and productivity targets

• Converting labour, volume and operational data into meaningful business decisions

• Managing labour costs, budgets and forecasts while delivering strong operational outcomes

• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiency

• Coaching, developing and inspiring leaders at all levels

• Building a high-performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork and customer outcomes

• Acting as a trusted conduit between senior leadership and frontline teams

• A down-to-earth approach coupled with a focus on results

• Experience with SAP would be advantageous, however it is not essential. We are more interested in finding a capable leader with strong operational instincts, commercial thinking and a passion for leading people.
