Security Operations Engineer

About the role

Viden are seeking an experienced Security Operations Engineer to join our growing cyber security team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex security problems, improving defensive capabilities, and working across a diverse range of technologies and environments.

You will be responsible for supporting the operation, engineering and continuous improvement of security technologies and controls, including SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, network security, identity and access management, logging and monitoring platforms for a critical Government network.

Key responsibilities

• Investigating and responding to security events

• Developing detection and monitoring capabilities

• Performing vulnerability analysis

• Supporting incident response activities

• Tuning security tools

• Automating operational security tasks

• Assisting clients and internal teams to strengthen their security posture

About you

• 10+ Years of SOC, cyber security or network engineering experience

• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, networking and cloud environments

• Experience deploying and refining SIEM, EDR/XDR technologies

• Understanding of incident response, threat detection and SOC operations

• Scripting or automation skills such as PowerShell or Python

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills

• Experience with the ISM, Essential Eight, PSPF or DSPF

• Diploma or above in Cyber Security or Network Engineering

• Micro-credentials such as GCED, GMON, GCIA, CGIH are all highly regarded

• Minimum NV1 Security Clearance

• Must be an Australian Citizen
