Details: The Programs and Planning horticultural team are looking for enthusiastic team members to join the business unit’s Parks Presentation team. You will work collaboratively with Parks Presentation team members and teams across City Presentation to deliver specialised, high-quality park upgrades, maintenance and presentation outcomes.

This role requires and involves the training and supervisory responsibility of our horticultural apprentices and trainees, undertaking and the planning of asset upgrades, carrying out site specific risk assessments, Vehicle and machinery inspections, team leadership in the allocation of plant and equipment for tasks, record keeping and reporting, and the ability to carry out audits as required.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

• Lead and work as part of a team of employees engaged in horticultural maintenance and park presentation operations.
• Undertake all work tasks in accordance with Work Health and Safety Legislation and assist in staff training, including induction training for new and temporary staff.
• Assist in the implementation of daily work programs, oversee quality control and maintain records in accordance with maintenance standards.
• Coordinate and undertake the delivery of horticultural improvements, maintenance and landscaping projects across Canberra's most pristine Parks and Gardens. Undertake horticultural upgrades including: asset improvements, soil and plant nutritional amendments, turf and garden renovations, landscape enhancements, Planting programs, mulching, weeding, pruning and chemical weed control and management activities.
• Liaise with management, staff and members of the public regarding work being carried out.
• Consistently deliver high-quality customer services to the Canberra community.
• Contribute and maintain a respectful work culture that ensures equity and diversity for all employees.

Note: There are several temporary positions available for six months with the possibility of extension up to six months.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
