About the role
Kirkbrae is a not for profit seniors living community located in Kilsyth, providing high quality retirement living and aged care services for people in the outer east of Melbourne.
With 78 residential care beds, our aged care service provides residents within a comfortable, compassionate and friendly community.
We are seeking an experienced Cook on a part-time basis Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 8.00am – 4.00pm who is experienced at a leadership level in the aged care arena to prepare and cook meals, manage, delegate and coordinate a team of professionals. The successful candidate will report directly to the Catering Supervisor and will join a dedicated team committed to the quality and variety of its meals service.
Key responsibilities include:
To liaise with the Catering Supervisor to provide high quality hospitality and catering services to the residents through preparation and serving of residents meals.
To facilitate and ensure meals provided to residents are of high quality, nutritionally balanced and appropriate for their needs.
To ensure all duties including food preparation are to be undertaken in accordance with the food safety plan and relevant regulatory requirements and health and safety requirements.
The Cook is to provide positive guidance and supervision of Food Services Assistants FSA.
Always maintain a safe working and living environment for residents and colleagues.
To be successful you must have the following:
Trade qualifications as a Cook
Minimum 2 years previous experience within aged care food preparation
Knowledge of relevant industry standards and practices
Experience with pastries would be advantageous
Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and achieve objectives through efficient use of time and resources
Knowledge of the principles and ability to work within a budget
Excellent communication and organisation skills with a proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge and ability to adhere to the principles of safe food handling with a certificate in this field
National Police Certificate
