About the role
Company Description Goulburn Murray Landcare Network operates across approximately 3,000 square kilometres of agricultural floodplains within the Goulburn Broken and North Central catchments of Victoria, supporting Landcare and environmental groups. The network secures funding for habitat restoration, school-based environmental education, community forums and training, and pest plant and animal management activities. It works collaboratively with community groups, government agencies, and land managers to achieve positive environmental and social outcomes. The network also coordinates the annual Floodplain Ecology Course, which builds understanding of complex floodplain ecosystems, their role in river health, and their importance for sustainable waterway management in a changing climate.
Role Description The Landcare Communications & Engagement Officer plays a key role in supporting Goulburn Murray Landcare Network (GMLN) and its member groups to build capacity, resilience and long-term sustainability. The position supports groups across the GMLN region to undertake activities that protect, enhance and restore the natural environment while strengthening community participation and volunteer engagement.The role is responsible for promoting the work and achievements of GMLN and its member groups through engaging communications, social media, newsletters and community engagement activities, with a focus on increasing community awareness and encouraging new volunteers to get involved in Landcare.Working as part of a small, collaborative team, the position also provides administrative and operationalsupport to the Office Manager and Landcare Facilitators. This includes assisting with the planning and delivery of events, workshops and projects, supporting day-to-day operations, and providing backup administrative support, including payroll processing in Xero during periods of staff leave or as required.This is a diverse and hands-on role suited to a proactive and organised individual who enjoys working withpeople, creating engaging content, supporting volunteers and contributing to positive environmental outcomes across the region.
