Field Service Fitter

Cougar Group is a market-leading OEM manufacturer, hire fleet specialist, and aftermarket service provider for the underground coal mining industry in NSW and QLD. We design, engineer, manufacture, and assemble a diverse range of underground coal diesel equipment, including Personnel Transporters, Graders, Underground Dozers, and Longwall Chock Carriers.

About the Role

The Field Service Fitter is responsible for the maintenance, repair and servicing of Cougar products and equipment directly on mine sites. The position requires working autonomously in the field, responding promptly to breakdowns, and undertaking scheduled service and maintenance tasks in accordance with safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical assistance on Hire Fleet Machinery on site, responding promptly to breakdowns

• Conduct fault diagnosis and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime

• Technical assistance on machinery in the workshop

• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections and servicing of equipment in line with operational requirements

• Advanced Technical troubleshooting and diagnostics of all Hire Fleet products

• Support our Hire Fleet equipment during Longwall Relocations

• Be available for quick deployment to various sites for breakdown support, should the need raise

• Assist in New Build and Overhauls Workshop

• Ex DES Code D Tasks

• Prepare documentation including shift reports, safety tools and statutory documentation, and failure analysis and non-conformances reports

What We're Looking For?

• Trade qualification in mechanical, electrical or diesel fitting (Certificate III or higher)

• RIISS00030 Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance

• Minimum 2+ years' experience in mining equipment maintenance, with field service experience

• Underground diesel and coal mining experience

• Knowledge of fluid power principles and calculations with the ability to interpret hydraulic/pneumatic schematics

• Experience with troubleshooting hydraulic/pneumatic/electrical and mechanical breakdowns

• Generic Underground Induction (CABA) and mine site inductions

• High-risk work licences
