Medical Science Liaison - Antimicrobial

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a critical role in supporting the quality use of medicines by providing timely, accurate and balanced scientific information to external stakeholders in infectious diseases. This field-based role requires a two-way dialogue to support appropriate and evidence-based use of the companies anti-infectives product(s) in alignment with antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) principals and both company and industry compliance standards. The MSL will engage with healthcare professionals, healthcare organisations and other relevant stakeholders as appropriate to facilitate scientific exchange, generate insights, and support initiatives aimed to enhance patient care.

Key responsibilities

Build and maintain ethical, peer-to-peer relationships with external experts, including infectious diseases physicians, respiratory and intensive care physicians, microbiologists, AMS leads and hospital pharmacistsProvide balanced, accurate and up-to-date medical and scientific information in response to unsolicited enquiriesCapture and report scientific and clinical insights to inform medical strategy, unmet needs, evidence generation and policy developmentIdentify and collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and clinical experts in support of advisory boards, expert meetings and educational programs

Medical Planning & Execution:

Develop and maintain scientific and medical expertise in the field of antimicrobial and anti-infective therapyEngage with KOLs, clinicians, and healthcare professionals to build partnerships and establish the product's scientific credibilityMap treatment pathways and protocols within hospitals and healthcare settingsConduct scientific exchange with healthcare professionals to support evidence-based practices and place in therapyEnsure the appropriate and compliant dissemination of scientific data and medical informationProvide medical training and education to internal teams, including the sales and marketing team as requiredDevelop and deliver medical presentations and facilitate discussions at key medical meetings and conferences

Medical Support & Customer Engagement

Provide insights to the cross functional team in support of quality use of Link's anti-infectives productsSupport medical education activities, including symposia, webinars, and key opinion leader (KOL) engagementsAttend scientific conferences, medical meetings and institutional engagement to represent Link Healthcare's scientific interests appropriately. Provide therapeutic area training and scientific support to cross-functional colleagues in accordance with company and country policies as required

Regulatory & Compliance

Escalate any adverse events reports, product quality complaints, or compliance concerns to the appropriate pathways within required timelinesParticipate in and complete audits, training and compliance processes as required by company and/or regulatory requirements within required timelines and as per ethical standards

Knowledge, Compliance & Regulatory:

Ensure all medical activities align with Australian Antimicrobial Stewardship principals, company policies, industry regulations, and Medicines Australia/Medicines New Zealand codesMaintain up-to-date knowledge of Link Healthcare's standard operating procedures and policies and ensure compliance at all timeComply with Link Pharmacovigilance requirements as per trainingEnsure that duties are carry out in adherence to GCP regulationsEnsure every team member can work in a safe and healthy work environmentContributes to a Quality-focused mindset; Quality is everyone's responsibility

Administration

Ensure filing and documentation is up-to-date and in compliant with standard processes and formatsComplete required reports within designated timeframes (e.g. expenses, product samples etc.)Participate in meetings as neededLiaise with management and staff to ensure projects are conducted efficientlyCommunicate with staff & management using proper channels

Requirements

Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) in a relevant scientific or healthcare discipline Strong understanding of Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) policies and hospital treatment protocolsExcellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholdersAbility to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teamsWillingness to travel extensively across ANZ as required
