Ordinary Committee Member

Banyule Support & Information Centre (BANSIC) is an independent, community-based not-for-profit that provides practical support, information, food relief and connection to people across Banyule. We work alongside our community to respond to immediate needs while addressing the inequities that can leave people experiencing food and financial insecurity, homelessness, social isolation and marginalisation.
As a Committee member, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to BANSIC’s governance, strategic direction and ongoing sustainability. Working alongside fellow Committee members and our Manager, you’ll contribute to strategic planning, financial governance, risk oversight, accountability and organisational development.
We’re looking for someone who:• Is committed to BANSIC’s purpose, vision and values of Dignity, Equity and Empowerment• Brings skills, experience or perspectives that would strengthen our Committee, including experience in the not-for-profit sector. Board or Committee experience is highly regarded.• Is willing to contribute to good governance and strategic decision-making• Is interested in helping a small community organisation grow sustainably
You don’t need previous Committee or Board experience. A willingness to learn and undertake governance induction and development is part of the role. People with lived experience of the issues BANSIC works alongside are particularly encouraged to apply.
This is a voluntary role, with a commitment of approximately 5–8 hours per month, plus occasional fundraising, strategic planning and other Committee activities.
