About the role

Reporting to the Signal Supervisor, the Signal Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and reliability of the rail network. You will be responsible for the installation, preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding and repair of signalling and communications systems across the Regional Fast Rail Network and associated rail corridors. Working independently and collaboratively, you will ensure all equipment meets operational, technical and safety standards while supporting the ongoing performance of the network.

About you
You’re a qualified Signal Maintenance Technician with a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork. Skilled in fault-finding, maintenance, and installation, you take pride in delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Adaptable and proactive, you collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to keep the rail network running smoothly. 

Key accountabilities include:

• Conduct maintenance and installation of signalling equipment.
• Perform scheduled servicing and fault rectifications.
• Investigate and report on signalling system incidents.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a safe and efficient railway network.

To be considered for entry into the selection process for this role, applicants must meet the following 'key selection criteria' which forms part of our merit-based recruitment process:

• Current valid driver's licence
• Certificate IV in Rail and Tram Signalling Systems
• A Certificate III – Electrotechnology
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Meet V/Line’s Rail Industry Worker safety benchmarks

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2023 and paid as an IMW (SIG & ELEC) 3.1 $64.33 per hour, plus super.
