The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join a small, multi-disciplinary engineering team spanning electronics, firmware, and mechanical design. This is primarily a hands-on technical role, with scope to provide technical leadership and potentially take on management responsibilities as the team evolves. It is suited to an experienced engineer who can take ownership of electronics design engineering, product improvement, and technical problem solving. You will help drive the evolution of our established low-power, high-reliability in-ground product suite while working closely with Production and Client Services.

Location Requirement: To successfully perform this role, you must be willing to be based in Brisbane. Regular on-site presence will be required due to the hands-on nature of embedded electronics systems development.

What You'll Do

Hands-on Engineering & Design

• Implement design updates and review, prototype and test low-power electronic designs with RF circuits, microcontroller hardware, and MEMS sensors.

• Develop and maintain automated test equipment (ATE) and scripts using Python and LabVIEW.

• Manage component lifecycles, proactively addressing EOL/obsolescence to prevent supply disruptions.

Technical Leadership & Product Delivery

• Provide technical input into issue triage alongside Production and Client Services, balancing urgent support with longer-term product improvement initiatives.

• Contribute to technical planning and project management of product improvement initiatives

• Leverage modern development tools (including agentic AI) .

• Support prototype builds, pilot production runs, and new product introduction activities with internal production and external PCA/manufacturing partners.

• Contribute to production support activities and help resolve manufacturing and product test issues efficiently.

Collaboration, Mentoring and Best Practices

• Collaborate closely with engineers, production staff, and external manufacturing partners to resolve technical issues and deliver product improvements.

• Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance, peer review, and knowledge sharing.

• Support engineering best practices through design reviews of schematics and PCB layouts, documentation, and mentoring of less experienced engineers where appropriate.

• Work within Configuration Control processes (ECN/ECP) and help maintain accurate manufacturing baselines and BOMs in our ERP system.

What We Are Looking For Essential Experience & Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or similar).

• 5+ years of professional experience as an Electronics Design Engineer.

• Highly proficient with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.

• Experience supporting manufacturing teams and associated ATE.

• Experience with hardware/software version control (Git) and change management (ECN/ECP).

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

• Team leadership or management experience, including mentoring, planning, or guiding technical work within a small engineering team.

• Strong, hands-on embedded software development experience in C and C++.

• Background in RF hardware design and MEMS sensors.

• Practical experience with Python or LabVIEW for test automation.
