Global Sourcing Manager

About the role

Verdex is one of Australia's leading suppliers of materials handling, workplace safety and industrial equipment. As we continue to expand our global supply network, we are seeking an experienced Global Sourcing & Supplier Development Manager to identify new manufacturing partners, develop strategic supplier relationships, and drive our product sourcing initiatives across international markets. This is a highly autonomous role suited to someone who enjoys research, international travel, supplier negotiations and discovering innovative products from around the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and identify new manufacturers and suppliers globally across Asia, Europe, North America and other key sourcing regions.

• Utilise research platforms, trade databases, AI tools, online marketplaces and industry resources to locate new supply opportunities.

• Identify innovative products that complement or expand the Verdex product range.

• Conduct supplier due diligence, capability assessments and commercial evaluations.

• Travel internationally to visit factories and build long-term supplier relationships.

• Perform supplier and factory audits to validate manufacturing capability, quality systems and production capacity.

• Verify supplier certifications, export licences, quality accreditations and compliance documentation.

• Work closely with Engineering, Product Development, Purchasing and Quality teams throughout the product development process.

• Lead supplier initial negotiations including pricing, payment terms, tooling, lead times and manufacturing agreements.

• Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Stay informed on global manufacturing trends, geopolitical risks, freight developments and emerging sourcing markets.

About You
You are commercially minded, highly organised and naturally curious. You enjoy investigating new opportunities and have the confidence to engage with manufacturers from around the world.
Ideally you will have:

• Experience in global sourcing, procurement, supplier development or international purchasing.

• Experience sourcing products from China and other international manufacturing regions.

• Strong research and analytical skills.

• Excellent commercial negotiation skills.

• Experience validating supplier capabilities and conducting factory audits.

• Strong understanding of international manufacturing, importing and supply chains.

• Ability to travel internationally as required.

• High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Fluent in Mandarin (spoken and written).

Highly Desirable

• Experience living or working in China or Asia.

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including metal fabrication, plastics, fabrication, industrial equipment or engineered products.

• Experience using sourcing platforms *research tools.

• Understanding of intellectual property protection, supplier contracts and international compliance requirements.
