About The Role
As a Laundry Assistant you will be responsible for providing laundry services that contribute to a safe, clean, home-like living environment for residents and staff.
Duties include:
Sort and process laundry appropriately in accordance with established procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
Wash, dry, fold and distribute residents’ clothing and linen in a timely manner and according to facility procedures.
Ensure residents’ clothing and personal items are handled with care and respect, including correctly identifying and returning items to the appropriate resident.
Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the laundry area.
Identify and report any damaged, missing or incorrectly labelled clothing or linen.
Manage soiled and contaminated laundry safely in line with infection control procedures.
Interact respectfully and compassionately with residents and staff at all times.
Key Requirements
Experience in laundry services, preferably within an aged care, healthcare, or similar environment.
Understanding of infection control procedures and the safe handling of clean, soiled and contaminated laundry.
Knowledge of the safe use, handling and storage of laundry chemicals and equipment.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise laundry tasks efficiently.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
