Restaurant Assistant Manager

As we continue to evolve, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager (2IC) who shares our passion for hospitality and is ready to become an integral part of our leadership team.

This is far more than a traditional Assistant Manager role.

Working closely alongside the Restaurant Manager and Directors, you will help lead every aspect of daily operations while inspiring the front-of-house team to deliver the genuine, polished hospitality Bar Lourinhã is known for.

You will be someone who naturally leads by example, remains calm under pressure and understands that exceptional service comes from preparation, teamwork and attention to detail.

As our Assistant Manager you will:

• Assist in the daily management of restaurant operations

• Lead and inspire the front-of-house team during service

• Deliver exceptional guest experiences and build lasting relationships with our loyal clientele

• Coordinate floor service, staff sections and team communication

• Manage service flow, staff breaks and operational efficiency

• Support the Restaurant Manager in mentoring, training and developing staff

• Deliver food and beverage service to the highest professional standard

• Assist with beverage sales, wine recommendations and cocktail service

• Maintain bar operations, presentation and dispense standards

• Oversee stock control, ordering and inventory management

• Coordinate private dining events and special functions

• Work collaboratively with our kitchen team to ensure seamless service

• Maintain our high standards of cleanliness, presentation and operational excellence

You are an experienced hospitality professional who genuinely enjoys looking after people.

You understand that leadership means being present on the floor, supporting your team and creating memorable experiences for every guest.

You will bring:

• Minimum two years' experience in an Assistant Manager, Supervisor or senior Front of House leadership role

• Experience leading teams of 7–10 team members during busy service

• A current Victorian RSA

• Strong restaurant operations knowledge

• Previous experience using POS and online reservation systems

• Excellent organisational and communication skills

• Experience with stock control and beverage inventory

• Strong hosting and guest relations skills

• Experience managing private dining and VIP events

• A passion for mentoring and developing hospitality professionals

Our beverage programme is central to the Bar Lourinhã experience.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A genuine passion for Iberian and Mediterranean cuisine

• Strong knowledge of European wines, particularly Spain and Portugal

• Understanding of aperitifs, digestifs and classic cocktails

• Experience behind a professional cocktail bar

• WSET Level 1, Sommelier Level 1 or equivalent wine knowledge (preferred)

• Confidence making beverage recommendations and driving sales through guest engagement
