Estimator / Draftsperson
Austral International

Based in Hobart, Tasmania, Austral is on an exciting path of growth and innovation, and we are looking for a passionate individual to join the team and contribute to our dynamic journey.
The successful applicant would benefit from being involved in a small, fast growing, dynamic company with a high standard of values and ethics. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator / Draftsperson to support our sales, operations, and production teams. This is a varied role combining estimating, drafting, procurement, and customer support, offering the opportunity to be involved in projects from enquiry through to delivery.
You will be working as part of an established, but ever improving and growing team.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
Create and revise technical drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
Liaise with customers and the sales team to understand project requirements.
Prepare quotations and estimates from customer enquiries and sales requests.
Support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience using Autodesk Inventor.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to confidently communicate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Australian work rights with the ability to work permanently in Australia.
Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
A proactive, positive, and team-oriented approach.
Desirable
Experience in fabrication or manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of CNC routing, welding, or manufacturing processes.
Previous estimating, design, or drafting experience.
