Baby Steps Health Centre is a multidisciplinary centre for baby, child and parent health, home to independent GPs, paediatricians and allied health providers working under one roof. Our front-of-house team is central to how the whole place feels and functions.

We’re looking for a full-time Medical Receptionist who can keep things running smoothly at reception and behind the scenes – someone steady, organised and warm, who’s comfortable in a busy, detail-heavy environment and brings a sense of kindness and quiet joy to the day.

At Baby Steps, a bright, warm, calm presence at reception is part of the care — it shapes how families feel walking in and how our providers feel starting their day. Your work is not only what gets done on screen, but how families and clinicians experience the place while it happens.

About the role

This is a full-time position based in Subiaco.

You’ll be one of the main contact points for families and clinicians, responsible for:

• Welcoming patients and managing check-in and check-out

• Answering phones, handling enquiries and booking appointments

• Managing practitioner schedules, waitlists and follow-ups

• Processing payments, Medicare billing and private health claims

• Preparing and scanning documents, referrals and results

• Supporting doctors and allied health providers with day-to-day admin

• Helping to keep reception systems, templates and processes up to date

You’ll work closely with our Head of Reception and Operations Manager.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has 5+ years of experience in medical reception or medical administration

• Is confident with practice management software (Best Practice)

• Is comfortable in a fast-moving environment with competing priorities

• Has strong attention to detail – billing, data entry, names, dates, follow-ups

• Communicates clearly and calmly with patients, clinicians and colleagues

• Has advanced computer skills across multiple systems and applications

• Works well as part of a small team and is willing to help wherever needed

• Values kindness, patience and respect
