About the role
Job Description
We are a small single doctor ophthalmology practice lying in an inner southern suburb 4km from Adelaide’s CBD and close to public transport. We have been offering exceptional patient care for over 15 years. Our focus is to always provide an excellent clinical service within a caring environment. We cover general ophthalmology and subspecialty areas, including glaucoma, cataract & medical retina. The practice also has a monthly 3 day outreach country clinic servicing Port Pirie and the surrounding region.
We are seeking an Orthoptist or Optometrist to join our team Part-time 1-2 days per week.
The candidate will work in collaboration with the ophthalmologist. You will be an integral part of the practice and a team player, with good communication skills and phone manner who has the ability to work independently.
Description:
Part Time 1-2 days per week
Duties:
– Running post operative clinics including subjective refraction and clinical management
– Acting as medical triage for symptomatic patients contacting the clinic
– Working as a medical technician ie assessing visual acuity, IOP measurements, visual fields(Humphrey perimeter), OCT(Zeiss Cirrus), immersion/contact biometry, IOL Master, assisting with intravitreal injections and minor oculoplastic procedures
– Assisting in the running of the clinic including general telephone queries and administrative duties
– Assisting/Overseeing the management of the flow of the clinic, especially during busy periods
– Participating in audits, management of surgical lists
– Participating in patient education including written/verbal information to patients regarding procedures and diagnostic tests
Minimum Requirements:
– Completed B. App. Sc (orthoptics)/Master of Orthoptic
– Completed Bachelor of Vision Science / Master of Optometry or equivalent
– Have or obtain a ‘National Police Check’ and ‘Working with Children Check’
