About the Role

The Office of the Director of the Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP) are seeking an experienced and motivated Evidence Services Consultant to lead the delivery, governance and continuous improvement of evidence services that support organisational objectives and informed decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and collaborative professional to lead complex work, drive innovation and provide expert advice in a dynamic environment.

As an EL1 Evidence Services Consultant, you will lead the management and optimisation of evidence services, ensuring data integrity, quality and accessibility while supporting business outcomes. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to improve processes, strengthen governance frameworks and identify opportunities to leverage technology and data to enhance service delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities while fostering productive stakeholder relationships. A background in information technology and data analytics in a legal or investigative environment will be highly regarded.

Reporting to the National Manager for Evidence Services, in addition to meeting the Integrated Leadership System profile of the Executive Level 1, primary outcomes and accountabilities will involve:  

• Interrogating data to determine, advise about, instruct on, and supervise the implementation of effective data solutions for litigation, inside and outside of the EMS;
• Proactively developing, communicating and supervising the implementation of general and bespoke solutions for the review, analysis, reporting, and exporting workflows required by specific litigation matters inside and outside EMS; 
• Using learnings from specific litigation matters to recommend improvements for future litigation data management and the EMS;  
• Effectively managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, tracking delivery schedules, ensuring proper quality assurance, and managing changes in work scope;
• Building collaborative relationships with, and providing strategic and technical advice to, prosecutors, APS level staff within Evidence Services, and other CDPP employees; 
• Providing leadership for all CDPP staff in day‐to‐day activities related to data and the EMS, including formally and informally developing, coaching and mentoring staff;
• Delivering educational sessions to legal teams both at a general level and in the context of specific litigation; 
• Providing high quality advice, reports and business improvement recommendations;
• Contributing to the development of strategies, new systems, procedures, policies and practices addressing future CDPP and stakeholder governance needs and emerging industry trends; and  
• Performing other special projects or duties when required.

• The ability to obtain/maintain satisfactory National Police Check and AGSVA NV1 security clearance 
• Australian Citizenship

Desirable Experience

The following experience will be highly regarded:

• Experience with database software, for example Relativity, NUIX, Ringtail or EDT, is essential;
• Background in Information Technology, Information Management or Digital Services;
• Experience analysing and interpreting complex datasets to support operational or strategic decision-making;
• Experience leading system enhancements, digital transformation or business improvement initiatives;
• Knowledge of data governance, information security and records management principles; and
• Scripting ability in VBA and batch is highly desirable but not essential.
