Remuneration: $87,451 – $119,727 amounts – depending on experience

As our city continues to grow, we're building a talent pool of experienced development compliance professionals who are passionate about delivering fair, practical and community-focused outcomes.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from talented and motivated professionals for future opportunities across our Building and Compliance team, including:

• Development Officer - Compliance 
• Senior Development Officer - Compliance

These roles focus on investigating and resolving compliance matters under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016, helping to create a safer and more enjoyable built environment for our community.

The Opportunities

Depending on your skills and experience, you may be considered for opportunities that involve:

Development Officer - Compliance:

• Investigating alleged breaches of planning and local nuisance legislation.
• Providing professional compliance advice to residents, developers, applicants and internal stakeholders.
• Negotiating and mediating compliance outcomes with a range of parties.
• Preparing evidence and supporting enforcement activities, including legal proceedings where required.
• Managing complaints and compliance matters with professionalism, fairness and objectivity.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring legislative requirements are met.

Senior Development Officer - Compliance:

• Providing technical leadership and day-to-day guidance to a compliance team.
• Managing and overseeing complex compliance investigations and enforcement matters.
• Providing specialist advice on legislative requirements, policies and procedures.
• Initiating and managing enforcement action, including representation in legal proceedings where required.
• Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and service delivery.
• Supporting organisational decision-making through reporting, analysis and technical expertise.

Who you are
 

You are more than a compliance professional. You are a trusted advisor, problem solver and skilled communicator who can balance regulatory requirements with practical community outcomes.

You bring:

• Experience in development compliance, regulatory services, planning, building, environmental health, local government or a related field.
• Strong investigation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience resolving complex matters through negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and customer service capabilities.
• The ability to work effectively within legislative and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong written communication skills, including report writing and documentation.
• Sound judgement, professionalism and attention to detail.
• A collaborative approach that builds trust, accountability and positive outcomes.
• Experience working with legislation such as the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016, and other local government regulatory frameworks will be highly regarded.
