Casual On-Call HR/HC Driver – Local Deliveries

We are seeking an experienced HR or HC driver for occasional, on-call local delivery work and general operational support.

This position is particularly suited to a semi-retired driver looking for flexible, occasional work without committing to a regular roster. Semi-retired drivers are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is an on-call position with no guaranteed weekly hours. Applicants must be comfortable receiving approximately one hour’s notice when work becomes available.

Your responsibilities

• MUST be fluent in spoken and written English, with the ability to clearly understand safety instructions, communicate with customers and management, and accurately complete all required paperwork and delivery documentation
• Completing local pickups and deliveries
• Safely operating manual HR/HC vehicles
• Correctly strapping and securing loads
• Completing vehicle pre-start inspections
• Following NHVR, fatigue-management and Chain of Responsibility requirements
• Completing delivery paperwork and obtaining proof of delivery
• Taking vehicles to and from mechanics or service centres
• Collecting and returning trucks to rental companies when required
• Taking company vehicles to be washed
• Removing rubbish and keeping the warehouse and yard tidy
• Sweeping warehouse floors
• Assisting with other reasonable ad hoc operational duties
• Reporting vehicle defects, delays, damage or incidents promptly
• Communicating professionally with customers and management
• Must be confident with our Driver's App / Use of mobile phone.

To be successful, you must have

• A current HR or HC driver’s licence
• Experience driving manual heavy vehicles
• Strong load-restraint and strapping knowledge
• A sound understanding of NHVR requirements
• A reliable, responsible and safety-focused attitude
• A willingness to assist with general warehouse, yard and vehicle-related duties
• Reliable transport to our Smeaton Grange warehouse
• Availability to accept occasional work at short notice
• Good communication skills and professional presentation

Pay: $36.78 – $40.00 per hour
