Project Officer - Community Services

About the role

The Project Officer will support  the delivery of Council’s strategic priorities within the Community Capacity Building team.

This is a 15-month 21 hour term contract position within the Prevention and Inclusion Portfolio, with a primary focus on implementing the Game on For Change project, a NSW Office of Sport-funded initiative that partners with local sporting clubs to help  prevent gender-based violence through community sport.

The role also contributes to Council’s broader Prevention and Inclusion priorities, including homelessness prevention and response, and domestic, family and sexual violence prevention. The Project Officer will support a the delivery of projects and initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing, supporting the coordination and administration of projects and initiatives that deliver positive community outcomes.

In this role you will:

• Assist with and support the delivery of major projects and strategic programs within Council.
• Identify opportunities for funding and projects consistent with Council’s vision and strategic direction. 
• Contribute to preparation and communication of components of the Unit’s business plan(s), including budget, priority projects and performance measures. 
• Coordinate, interpret, present and communicate management reports, including financial, people and service standard information with support from Community Capacity Building Lead and other Leaders. 
• Contribute to the ongoing development of project plans, work specifications and service level agreements, contracts and project management arrangements relevant to the Community Capacity Building Team.

We are offering a 21 hour (3 days) Term Contract for up to 15 months with a competitive remuneration package from $108,795.03 (pro rata) + 12% superannuation.

About you

The successful candidate is someone who brings: 

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a position related to community development or social sustainability. 
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities and/or community campaigns to provide opportunities for service enhancement and achievement of improved long-term community outcomes.
• Strong experience in planning, delivering and reviewing projects or community initiatives including aptitude for online project management tools. 
• Very well-developed program management skills including financial and budgetary management, program planning, policy development and quality improvement processes.
