Common Bakery is seeking a skilled baker with a passion for focaccia, fermentation, Italian baking culture to join our team in Fremantle.

This hands-on role suits someone who loves dough, long fermentation, quality ingredients and traditional methods. We’re looking for a baker who values both craft and consistency, and takes pride in producing exceptional focaccia and Italian-inspired baked goods each day.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Producing focaccia and Italian-style sandwiches to a high standard
• Managing mixing, proving, stretching, baking and finishing processes
• Preparing seasonal toppings, fillings and bakery components
• Maintaining production schedules and product freshness
• Monitoring bake quality, fermentation and consistency
• Operating and maintaining bakery equipment including mixers, ovens and proofers
• Upholding food safety, cleanliness and organisational standards
• Assisting with stock control and ingredient management
• Collaborating with kitchen and front-of-house teams

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in artisan baking, focaccia production or Italian-style bread making
• Strong understanding of fermentation, hydration and dough handling
• Passion for Italian baking culture and traditional methods
• Confidence in a fast-paced production environment
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• Ability to work early mornings and physically demanding shifts
• Positive attitude and team-focused mindset
• Food safety knowledge and strong organisation skills
• Experience with sourdough or naturally fermented doughs is highly regarded
