Support Worker

The Role

As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and caring home environment. By providing support in their daily lives, you will help them develop practical and social skills while serving as a role model to prepare them for adulthood. Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Mentor and teach young people essential life skills.

• Build rapport and trust, acting as a positive and reliable role model

• Maintain resilience to overcome challenging behaviour

• Guide young people towards positive behaviours using redirection and negotiation techniques.

• Form nurturing relationships through active engagement.

• Ensure the young person's essential needs are met, including a balanced diet, hygiene prompts, school support, and positive life experiences.

• Promote independent living skills, such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, and household maintenance.

• Engage young people in activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worth.

• Support children/young people in building their capacity to be a part of their community

• Maintain a clean and safe home environment.

Requirements:

• Holds a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Community Services, or a relevant qualification (or be currently working towards it).

• Demonstrates the ability to implement strategies and tactics to de-escalate challenging behaviors.

• Has expertise in engaging

• Holds a driver's license and has access to a vehicle

• Has a Working With Children Check / Blue Card.

• Is available to work all shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights.
