Junior CAD Draftsperson - SolidWorks

Activity Playgrounds is a leading Australian manufacturer of commercial playground equipment, supplying innovative play spaces to schools, councils, parks and childcare centres across Australia.

We are looking for a Junior CAD Draftsperson with strong SolidWorks skills to join our growing design team. This role is suited to someone who enjoys producing accurate technical drawings and documentation and wants to develop their skills in manufacturing drafting.

You'll work alongside experienced designers and production staff, giving you the opportunity to see your work progress from CAD drawings through to real, manufactured playground equipment.

Working within our design team, you'll create and maintain accurate 3D CAD models, manufacturing & installation drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and production documentation for our range of playground equipment and custom projects.

You will work closely with our design and production teams to ensure drawings and documentation accurately reflect the approved design and provide the information required for manufacture and installation.

• Create and update SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.

• Create and update SolidWorks installation drawings.

• Update and maintain SolidWorks template files

• Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).

• Revise and update existing products and technical drawings.

• Produce accurate DXF files for plasma cutting and CNC routing.

• Prepare manufacturing and production documentation.

• Prepare and maintain manufacturing and production documentation, including drawing revisions in our in-house inventory software.

• Work with the design and production teams to ensure drawings are accurate, practical and manufacturable.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, including accurate 3D part and assembly modelling.

• Experience with 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD or BricsCAD.

• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

• A willingness to learn and develop your technical drafting skills.

• Full Australian working rights.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience producing manufacturing drawings to a high standard.

• Experience preparing DXF files for CNC routing or plasma cutting.

• Experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.

This is a drafting, detailing and technical documentation role, not a product design or engineering position. You'll be taking approved designs and concepts and turning them into accurate CAD models, drawings, BOMs and production files.

We're looking for someone who enjoys the technical drafting side of the process and takes pride in getting the details right.
