For more than 25 years we have partnered with ambitious founders and management teams to deliver accelerated, sustainable growth across technology, business services, healthcare, education and financial services, supporting them as an experienced guide with capital, expertise and practical assistance.Pemba is establishing a team to help our Partner Companies deploy AI solutions that support business growth – this is an exciting opportunity to define how AI advances can transform the private equity model in Australia. The team will start as a three-person pod spanning AI strategy, product, engineering (you).
Key responsibilities:
Advise and prioritise AI opportunitiesAdvise Partner Companies to help them develop an impactful AI strategy.Prioritise AI opportunities by business value, technical feasibility, data readiness and risk.
Design and deliver AI solutionsLead cross-functional teams to architect, build and deploy production-grade AI systems within Partner Companies across business transformation, agentic software development, customer growth, and new AI products. Develop reusable architectures, playbooks and templates relevant to Pemba’s portfolio.Be an AI ambassador – stay across new advancements and be a thought-leader in this space.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Essential7+ years across software engineering, machine learning, data engineering, solutions architecture.2+ years hands-on building and operating Gen-AI applications in production, with experience in modern AI patterns (e.g. caching, memory, RAG, skills/tools, routing, orchestration, guardrails, observability/evals, security, governance).Strong Python and/or TypeScript development skills and proficiency with SQL, plus sound engineering fundamentals across APIs, system design, testing, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure.Ability to operate across multiple concurrent initiatives with varied contexts and maturities.
Highly regardedExperience in private equity, portfolio operations or technology consulting.Experience in machine learning and statistical analysis.
