Child and Family Practitioner - Strengthening Families

As a Child and Family Practitioner within the Strengthening stream, you will play a vital role in providing early support to children, young people and families facing vulnerability and complex life circumstances. Working within an integrated family support framework, you will connect with families early to enhance their strengths, confidence and capacity, helping to address challenges before they escalate.

In this rewarding role, you will support families to achieve sustainable, positive outcomes through strengths-based practice, proactive engagement, evidence-informed approaches and coordinated case management. You will work alongside families to identify concerns, build on existing strengths, promote safe and nurturing environments, and connect them with services and community resources that support long-term wellbeing and resilience.

As a Child and Family Practitioner – Strengthening, you will:

• Deliver targeted, evidence-informed case management, assertive outreach and tailored interventions to individuals, children and families with complex needs
• Build parental capacity and family resilience by developing and implementing outcome-focused plans that promote safety, stability and wellbeing
• Conduct comprehensive risk and needs assessments, coordinate services, and connect families with appropriate supports and community resources
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure integrated service delivery, strong partnerships, and improved outcomes for children and families

Position Details

• Full time, Ongoing position
• 1 FTE working 38 hours per week
• $105,834 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We’re Looking ForWe value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare Studies, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Behavioural Sciences or related field
• Demonstrated understanding of managing complex cases with strong case practice including client advocacy, therapeutic interventions and family support in line with evidence informed frameworks.
• Demonstrated understanding of risk and needs assessments
• Demonstrated knowledge of the factors that can impact on a parent’s ability to care for children and knowledge of the service system and resources available that can support parents, children and young people
