Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position

• Examine ingredients and prepared food to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for service.
• Prepare and cook breakfast, brunch and café-style menu items in accordance with recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Regulate the temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers and other commercial cooking equipment.
• Season food during cooking and portion, plate and garnish dishes consistently.
• Prepare food for customers with special dietary requirements, including allergy-aware modifications, in accordance with kitchen procedures.
• Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and follow safe stock rotation, labelling and storage procedures.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, cleaning and sanitation standards in accordance with applicable requirements and business procedures.
• Coordinate preparation and cooking tasks with the wider kitchen team to support efficient service during busy periods.
• Assist with menu planning, estimating food requirements, stock control and reducing food waste.
• Assist with training junior kitchen staff and kitchen hands in food preparation and safe kitchen procedures.

Skills and attributes

• Sound knowledge of commercial food preparation methods and kitchen operations.
• Ability to produce consistent, well-presented dishes in a fast-paced café environment.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen and sanitation requirements.
• Good time management, organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively as part of a team.
• Availability to work mornings, weekends and public holidays on a rotating roster.

Qualifications and experience

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• At least one year of relevant full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time experience) as a Cook in a café, restaurant or similar commercial kitchen.
• Experience preparing breakfast and brunch dishes is desirable.
