Accountant

About the role

The accountant at Fonty's Pool Farm Pty Ltd is responsible for managing the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, taxation and compliance functions of the farm. Fonty's Pool Farm forms part of a broader group where the role also provides accounting support to related entities operating across agriculture, mining, property investment, real estate and other business activities where required. The role supports management through the provision of accurate financial information, consolidated reporting, financial analysis, intercompany accounting support, budgeting and forecasting, investment analysis, and strategic business support across the group.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts.

• Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.

• Manage the company's general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions.

• Assist with budgeting and monthly forecasts to support business planning.

• Assist with consolidated management reporting and support financial analysis.

• Prepare financial models to assist management with investment decisions.

• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.

• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statement (BAS), GST returns, Payroll tax returns, and other statutory reports.

• Assist with taxation compliance, including preparation of information for income tax and fringe benefits tax returns.

• Manage month end processes, including preparation of journals, reconciliation, and financial reporting.

About you

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

• CA/CPA qualified or working towards qualification

• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation, GST, payroll obligations, and financial compliance requirements.

• Experience managing accounting and financial reporting functions across multiple related entities within a corporate group structure.

• Experience with intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and related-party transactions.

• Demonstrated ability to manage accounting, financial reporting and compliance requirements across multiple business sectors, including agriculture, mining, property investment and real estate operations.

• Experience in investment analysis, business/asset valuation, and liaison with financial institutions.

• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management across multiple business operations.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, reporting, and data analysis.

• High level proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, or similar financial management systems.
