Biodiversity Assessment Officer (Energy and Major Projects)

The Biodiversity Assessment Officer (Energy and Major Projects) provides high quality environmental advice to support the delivery of DEECAs renewable and major project priorities across the state, prioritising the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal project. The role will combine technical biodiversity knowledge with well-developed problem-solving, collaboration and outcome-focused skills to effectively manage risk to Victoria's natural environment for communities, while supporting energy and major projects and programs in regions. The key focus of this role will be to support decision-making by providing environmental and biodiversity advice. The role will support environment portfolio case-management for planning referrals and other project proposals, assist with managing biodiversity risks on the public land estate, and work with Traditional Owners, other partners and stakeholders, including Port of Hastings Corporation, to support priority activities.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

• An appropriate tertiary qualification related to natural resource management; environmental or ecological sciences or similar and / or relevant experience is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to apply environmental and biodiversity assessment processes, focused on biodiversity risk management and mitigation.

This is a fixed term position available until 23 March 2028. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
