About the Role

As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for providing accurate and comprehensive estimates for civil construction projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Analyse project specifications, drawings and documentation to prepare detailed estimates for civil construction projects

• Conduct quantity take-offs and material calculations to provide accurate cost assessments

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions

• Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating pricing to achieve cost-effective outcomes

• Keep up to date with industry trends, material costs and labour rates to ensure competitiveness in bids

• Review and analyse bid opportunities, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement

• Prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals in a timely manner

• Participate in project meetings and support project teams during the pre-construction phase

About You

You will be a seasoned civil estimator with strong technical skills and commercial acumen.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum of 10 years' experience as an Estimator in the civil construction industry (council tenders, public domain works such as footpaths, driveways, asphalt works, stormwater works, etc.)

• Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)

• Full Australian working rights

• Proven experience dealing with councils, TfNSW and private clients

• Proficiency in conducting civil take-offs and working with estimating software (Bluebeam preferred)

• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials and techniques

• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Demonstrated track record of successful bid submissions and cost-effective project outcomes

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related field
