Excavator Operator & Truck Drive

About the role

Norcape Tree Services is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator & Truck Driver to join our team on a contract basis. This is a hands-on operational role based in Port Hedland WA, where you will be responsible for operating heavy plant machinery and driving trucks as part of our tree services operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of our projects, contributing directly to the quality of service we deliver to our clients.

This is a fixed short term contract of 2 weeks including weekends (September 7 - September 18). The pay rate will be on a fixed day rate (hours from 6:30am-3:30pm). Day rate dependant upon experience. Norcape will cover flights costs (from Perth), all meals, and accommodation.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators and other heavy plant machinery safely and efficiently on job sites, following all relevant safety protocols and regulations

• Drive trucks to transport materials, equipment and personnel to and from job sites

• Conduct pre-operation checks on all plant and machinery to ensure they are in safe working order

• Maintain accurate records of plant operation, fuel usage and maintenance requirements

• Communicate effectively with site supervisors and team members to coordinate work activities

• Adhere to all health and safety legislation, company policies and site-specific requirements

• Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment and materials as required

• Report any equipment faults or safety concerns immediately to management

What we're looking for

• Valid Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR) or equivalent qualification for driving trucks

• Current and valid Excavator Operator certification or equivalent accreditation

• White Card

• Proven experience operating excavators and driving heavy vehicles in a construction or tree services environment

• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements on construction and tree services sites

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for your own work quality and safety

• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks as required

• A positive attitude and commitment to maintaining high safety standards

• Reliability and punctuality
