We are seeking an experienced Operator/Tradesman to join our team on a full-time basis across our Newcastle and Muswellbrook projects, helping deliver high-quality civil landscaping and construction projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

As a skilled Landscape Tradesman and Operator, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of landscaping tasks, ensuring the efficient use of machinery and tools to meet high standards of quality and safety. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional results on our landscaping projects.

Your Impact

Your expertise in operating machinery and your hands-on landscaping skills will contribute significantly to the success of each project. You will ensure the precise execution of tasks, from civil works to softscaping and hardscaping, while adhering to safety protocols and project timelines.

Your Every Day

• Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, skid steers and bobcats for various landscaping and civil tasks.
• Perform landscape construction duties, including base preparation, retaining walls, drainage, paving, grading and planting.
• Collaborate with team members and follow instructions to complete both softscape and hardscape projects.
• Assist in diagnosing and solving site issues, including drainage problems, soil conditions, and plant health.
• Carry out maintenance and inspections of machinery and tools, including daily pre-starts and logbooks, to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Adhere to site safety plans, complete site inductions, and participate in daily toolbox talks.
• Maintain accurate records and report work progress to the Site Manager or Supervisor.

• Relevant operator certifications/VOCs (e.g., for excavators, skid steers).
• Heavy Rigid (HR) or Medium Rigid (MR) truck licence highly regarded.
• Preferred certifications: Working from Heights, Rope Access, EWP (Elevating Work Platforms).

Experience

• Experience in landscape construction or a similar trade, with strong operating experience on civil landscaping projects (desirable).
• Extensive experience operating landscaping machinery and equipment.

Skills & Attributes

• Valid driver’s licence.
• Strong knowledge of landscape construction, including drainage, earthworks, and paving.
• Ability to read construction plans, understand site levels, and work to string lines/laser levels.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to different site conditions.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A strong work ethic, punctuality, and a “can-do” attitude to step off the machine and help the crew when needed.
