About the role
Situated in the heart of the Sutherland Shire, Woolooware Golf Club is a vibrant, popular 18-hole golf facility dedicated to providing top-tier playing conditions for our members and local community.
We take great pride in our course presentation, strong team culture, and modern turf practices. We are currently seeking a motivated, hard-working Apprentice Greenkeeper to join our dedicated Course Maintenance team.
Work Hours & RosterWe offer a structured 38-hour week with excellent work-life balance and early finishes:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Wednesday: 5:30 AM – 11:30 AM (Early finish mid-week! / TAFE study day during semester)
Weekends: Rotating weekend roster (mornings only with penalty rates / overtime opportunities)
This is a full-time, hands-on apprenticeship combining practical, on-the-job training with formal TAFE studies (Certificate III in Sports Turf Management through Ryde TAFE, paid 1 day per week during study terms).
Working directly alongside our Course Superintendent and qualified Greenkeeping staff, you will learn all aspects of modern golf course maintenance and build a rewarding, long-term trade career in the sports turf industry.
What You Will Learn & Do- Course Presentation: Mowing greens, tees, fairways, and roughs to high standards.
- Daily Course Setup: Hole changing, tee marker placement, and bunker maintenance for daily play and tournaments.
- Turf & Plant Health: Understanding soil management, turf nutrition, weed/pest control, and turf renovation techniques.
- Irrigation Management: Operating and maintaining automatic irrigation systems.
- Equipment Operation: Safe operation and daily maintenance of specialized turf machinery.
-WHS & Safety: Applying professional workplace health and safety practices in an outdoor environment.
What We OfferImmediate Start Available
Paid TAFE Training: 1 day per week at Ryde TAFE fully paid as part of your 38-hour week.
Fantastic Work-Life Balance: Done by 2:00 PM most days, 11:30 AM on Wednesdays, and weekend morning shifts are only 3 hours!
Competitive Apprentice Rates: Plus weekend penalty rates and overtime during course renovations/peak periods.
Equipment & PPE: All uniforms, boots, and safety gear supplied.

We are looking for a reliable local who loves working outdoors and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Requirements & Attributes:
Genuine interest in outdoor work, turf management, or sports ground care.
Punctual, reliable, and comfortable with 5:30 AM starts.
Good physical fitness and a strong work ethic.
Ability to follow safety directions and work well in a team environment.
Valid Driver’s Licence (or reliable transport for early mornings).
Prior experience with power tools, landscaping, or golf knowledge is a bonus, but not essential—attitude and reliability come first!
