Gardener (full-time) $75,000 p.a. + superannuation
Leppington (South-West Sydney)
Antegra Leppington is Sydney’s Premier Lifestyle Community designed specifically for the “over 50’s”. Our community comprises some 225 individual homes coupled with an extensive range of resort style recreational facilities (clubhouse with cinema, library, arts & crafts studio, games room; hobby workshop; championship 7 rink bowling green; 25 metre lap pool; wellness centre with fully equipped gymnasium, massage therapist, hairdresser) spread over 10.9 hectares (27 acres) of professionally landscaped grounds.
The business is privately owned with a small team of 6-8 permanent staff plus various additional contractors. The position is based on site, in a resort-like environment with free secure parking available. Working hours are 38 hours/week from Monday to Friday.
In addition to the usual lawn mowing, edging, hedging, pruning, weeding, etc., the successful candidate will be involved in some landscape design and construction (plant selection, planting, paving) along with maintenance of irrigation systems, pool, bowling green, water features, and the management of waste and vermin. The nature and size of our community may also require completion of tasks beyond the usual horticultural aspects. However, the primary role will be assisting in the preparation and implementation of appropriate horticultural maintenance programs.
Candidates require:
· Minimum Certificate III in Horticulture with strong practical experience;
· Chemcert Certificate with strong knowledge of chemical sprays and fertilizers;
· Experience in use of mowers, line trimmers, hedgers, blowers, sprayers, etc.;
· Basic PC skills - Outlook, Word, Excel;
· Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to engage constructively with residents, business owners, management, other staff members and contractors;
· A level of health and fitness appropriate to the demands of the position including the ability to work in all weather conditions;
· Ability to work alone (initiative, self-discipline) and as part of a small team; and
· A willingness to learn with a commitment to continuous improvement.
In addition to above award wages, the successful candidate will enjoy four weeks paid annual leave largely at the time of their choice (including Christmas), a pleasant and orderly work environment and the support of Management in achieving their goals. Uniform/workwear will also be provided (after an initial qualifying period).
Start date is flexible.
