About The Opportunity

As a Trades Assistant / Fuel Delivery Driver with Bundaberg Regional Council, you will provide hands-on support to the daily operations of our East Depot Major and Minor Plant Workshops and Council’s preventative maintenance program.

Working within Fleet Services, you will assist qualified tradespeople with workshop activities and deliver bulk fuel and supplies to Council’s earthmoving equipment, heavy mobile plant, fixed plant and light vehicles. You will also undertake condition inspections and greasing of assets, maintain accurate records and truck inventory, and ensure plant, machinery and equipment under your control are operated and cared for safely and responsibly.

This varied role is suited to someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys practical work, takes pride in providing an efficient and effective service and works well as part of a team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

• Well-developed communication, interpersonal and data skills, with experience in a fleet maintenance-related background
• Demonstrated commitment to working within workplace health and safety legislation and the policies of a large employer
• Sound knowledge in the operation of relevant tools, plant and equipment, including light vehicles, tractors, excavators, graders and trucks
• Demonstrated high-level ability to accurately complete forms and records in a timely manner, including the use of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Demonstrated high-level mechanical aptitude and a customer-focused background
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction
• A current HR Driver’s Licence

It would also be highly regarded if you hold:

• A current Forklift Ticket, or have the willingness and ability to rapidly obtain one

The position may also be required to participate in occasional after-hours call-out duties or overtime as agreed.
